— The experience

An hour through the fields, at a walk

You set off from Tamburino Ranch, just outside Modena, and follow the country trails on horses that know the route well. You walk the whole way, so there’s time to look around, chat a little, and breathe. Between one field and the next, the hour quietly slips by.

— Who it’s for

Even if you’ve never ridden before

Our horses are calm and know the trail, so they suit complete beginners just as well. Alice leads every ride — a FITETREC-ANTE qualified trekking guide who keeps the pace right for everyone. Rides are for ages 14 and up; for younger children we arrange pony activities on request.

What it’s actually like

You ride at a walk while fields, hedgerows and the odd patch of woodland go by. The colours and smells shift with the season, and often the only sound is hooves on the path. Some people find it calming, others find it a small thrill — either way, it’s an hour unlike the rest of the week.

Frequent questions

Do I need experience to book a ride?

Nature & Horses welcomes beginners too, thanks to calm horses and a pace that naturally adapts to the group's rhythm. For longer rides, a bit of familiarity is preferable.

What should I wear?

We recommend long, comfortable trousers, knee-high socks and thin-soled shoes; sneakers work perfectly (avoid heavy boots). The riding cap is provided by the ranch.

Can children take part?

Yes. Lessons are open to children from 4 years old. Rides, however, are reserved for ages 14 and up — for younger children, pony activities are available on request.
